From Google Earth the thunderous passage looks like a merry stream, the captain aboard a passenger airliner says, “it’s worth a look”, and recently spirits from the underworld have come back to use it as their playground. This is “Hells Gate”; a landmark that has prompted travel writers to say, “Every person on this planet should experience for themselves, as it has been left for us to witness.”
Seeing
Your smooth descent aboard the 25-passenger gondola gently glides you over top of the Hells Gate Fishways, where two million sockeye salmon fight the mighty Fraser River to reach their inland spawning grounds. At the lower terminal there are observation points to view 200 million gallons of water per squeezing through the narrowest point on the Fraser River appropriately referred to as “Hells Gate”.
DoingWalking through
Upon docking at river level immediately following your tram ride there is something to tease every sense. From chills and goose bumps, smells and taste buds, to a historic déjà vu. Relax with a walk through the floral gardens and landscaped grounds where you and your family (including the dog) can revel in the natural wonders around.
