The Guild House Antiques store is located in South Granville, surrounded by gift shops, art galleries and designer stores. It is one of the oldest antique dealers in the city and has been in its current location since 1999. It prides itself on its high quality and good selection. The Guild House is a member of the Antique Dealers Association of Western Canada and draws in clientele from around the Lower Mainland and abroad. The store is housed in a quaint building that looks right out of the 19th century itself. The 4,000 square foot showroom covers two floors and is well-lit, with a lot of track lighting and table lamps. All items are varied and well-displayed.
Old World Furnishings
Guild House Antiques specializes in antique furniture and antique decorative accessories from the 17th to 19th centuries. For furniture, the selection varies from a pair of Regency Rosewood side chairs and gentleman’s library armchair (upholstered in blue brocade) to a Victorian breakfast credenza and Louis XVI French Revival armoire. There are also quirky pieces, like a Victorian mahogany dumb waiter and a folding tray table circa 1810. There are plenty of smaller decorative pieces too, like watercolour paintings, clocks, china, vases, bronze statuettes and apothecary boxes to indulge the inner collector in you.
In Modern Times
Despite being a treasure trove for old world items, Guild House Antiques makes great use of modern technology to better serve its clients. It maintains a good website with photos and detailed descriptions of its current catalogue. It also lists recently sold items, so potential buyers can update their to-watch-for lists. Guild House can deliver and ship anywhere in the world.
