Olympic Duties
With a capacity of nearly 20,000 seats, and a population that are among the most ardent hockey-lovers in the world, GM Place promises to be one of the most exciting places to be throughout Vancouver's 2010 Winter Olympics. Both men and women's teams from around the world will poke, stick, fore- and back-check their way through the competition, leaving as many bodies behind as they can along the way. Home of the Vancouver Canucks, this arena has received considerable acclaim for its comfortable seating and attractive design. Only minor modifications were needed to make this already state-of-the-art facility Olympic-ready, such as the inclusion of additional dressing rooms. The ice sheet will remain sized to North American standards for the tournament according to a decision made by the the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 2006.

Amenities
There are 26 concessions and 14 portable kiosks on the two public concourses, with enough variety to satisfy the most demanding crowds. Choices include cappuccino bars, two family restaurants, hot dog stands, pizza parlours, popcorn and soda pop concessions, Mexican burrito stands, a deli, a beer garden and more. For those wishing to celebrate a hard-fought victory in a bit grander style, there are two top-notch restaurants to choose from: The Captain's Club and The Brew House Grill.

Not Just Hockey
One of the most active entertainment venues in North America, this facility has attracted the biggest names in show business to its stage, and already the doors have welcomed more than 15 million visitors. Canada Hockey Place can accommodate events of any description and crowds of nearly any size. The arena floor space can be transformed effortlessly from an ice rink to a concert hall, to a tennis court, and to a basketball court. The arena bowl is capable of being partitioned into varying concert modes, ranging in size from 3,500 to 20,000 seats. Hosting approximately 100 events each year, it is ranked among the busiest facilities in North America.

Modern Style
The building's state-of-the-art features include a Bose sound system, with acoustics to rival any building in North America, an integrated Daktronics super LED Video Display scoreboard and a LED ringbeam that surrounds the bowl. It features eight Prostar Video screens, three ProAd Video rings each with LED pixels that generate 4.4 trillion colours with over 16,000 shades of the primary colors. It also features highly skilled in-house production, lighting and rigging crews and outstanding broadcast capabilities.
