It's a short walk up a flight of stairs to the Centre of the queer community. The Centre provides education and support services for people who are lesbian, gay, transgendered or bisexual as well as their allies in Vancouver and throughout British Columbia. The Centre offers many special programs and services to meet the needs of its community.
Programs and Services
Prideline is one of the Centre’s popular services. It offers callers peer support, information and referrals by phone, seven days per week. The reception office also provides information, referrals and support to those who drop-ins and callers. The Centre also has a large library named Out on the Shelves. With almost 5,000 titles, Out on the Shelves is one of the largest LGTB community libraries in Canada. Another popular service is the free one-on-one and group counselling provided by practicum students. The group sessions include a variety of workshops, coming out groups and discussion groups. All of the Centre’s programs and services are made possible by their volunteers.
