What is the Pit?
The Gator Pit is a four-level indoor playground for toddlers and kids. The soft play park features nets, tunnels and ball pits that will keep the young ones entertained for hours. It’s a great place to come when children need to burn off energy – but not recommended if they’re already tired and cranky. All of the slides are tunnels with big twists and curves. For smaller kids there is a toddler play area for children under three, which has its own ball pit, slide and some gently inclined climbing walls.

The Gator Pit also hosts parties for toddlers and children, with full-service food and drinks and a latte bar for the adults. There is also a two-hour drop off service available for parents – with some restrictions. Children must be four or aver and there is a fee. This precious couple of hours gives parents a little time to shop in the mall while the kids play, but parents must carry a Gator Pit Pager in case there’s a problem. Call the centre for details. Other activities include summer camps and supervised care. The atmosphere is comfortable, clean and the playground has a well-lit and open.

The Gator Pit is located in Park Royal South Shopping Centre, just west of the Lion’s Gate Bridge in West Vancouver. You’ll find it on the second floor, right above the Concierge Desk. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot. If your children are very young, it’s a good idea to bring them here on a weekday, because weekends tend to be a bit overwhelming because of hosted birthday parties. As a safety precaution, parents and kids receive matching hand stamps upon entry, and they must be shown again upon leaving the playground.
