A UBC Landmark
The Frederic Wood Theatre, or Freddy Wood as it’s commonly known as, has been a UBC favourite since it was built in 1963. The facility is wheelchair accessible and there’s assistance for the hearing impaired. The theatre, which was awarded a medal for its architecture, features distinctive textured concrete walls, wood coverings and large glass panels. It was named after the founder of the UBC Player’s Club and a man who contributed greatly to theatre in the province. Both faculty and alumni of the theatre have gone on to win awards and join prestigious productions.

Budget-Friendly Prices
A night out on the town has never been so affordable! Where else can you find theatre tickets for under $20? UBC alumni can enjoy $2 off the price of their tickets when they present their ACard. The Frederic Wood Theatre is also a friendly neighbour. Members of the University Neighbourhood Association receive a $2 discount with an UNA Card. There’s even a shuttle service that conveniently stops at various campus locations every half hour. Tickets can be purchased in person or by phone.
