Urban escape off Davie
Located right off bustling Davie Street, Five Roses Bakery Cafe is a great place to escape the action and recharge with a coffee and a snack. The small shop has space for only about a dozen people inside, with stools at the window bar and a few seats at round tables. There are a few seats outside as well. All of the tasty baked goods are on display in glass cases and everything is made in the on-site in the open kitchen.
Decadent desserts
If you have a sweet tooth, Five Roses Bakery Cafe is the place to satisfy it. Start your morning right with a specialty coffee and a cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant or sour cream coffee cake. Looking for an afternoon sugar-kick? There’s an entire case dedicated to cookies.
Other sweet seductions include cream puffs, bars, tarts and balls of all varieties. Fresh baked bread is also available, and you can even take home an entire pie, or enjoy a piece “à la mode.”
Inexpensive place to lunch
In the morning, breakfast bagels and muffins are popular. At lunchtime, the crowds arrive for the shop’s signature toasted bagel sandwiches, which range from basics like tuna salad to fancier options like cream cheese and lox. Savoury snacks such as sausage rolls, samosas and spanakopitas are also great on the go.
