A Tradition Kept
European Breads is a family business which opened its doors in Vancouver in 2001. What began as a small artisan bakery has grown into a large and thriving retail and wholesale business that now supplies breads to 35 of BC’s finest restaurants and grocery stores. Clients include Urban Fare, Whole Foods and Capers. The in-store café also serves hot traditional Eastern European food with freshly baked bread every day.

Art of Baking
There are ten bakers on staff, each one from a different country and trained in art kneading, moulding, shaping and baking the breads so they come out just right every time. With 25 varieties of bread to choose from, like Russian Rye, Euro Flax and Ancient Roman Spelt, these breads are well known for their “intense, earthy flavours, crunchy crusts and complex textures.”

In Demand
Quickly growing in popularity, and covered by several magazines and newspapers over the years has helped spread the word about this bakery. They are known to be the very first bakery in Canada to provide biodegradable bread bags as a commitment to the earth and a greener way of doing business. They also receive high demand for their hand baked Georgian baguettes (Georgia in Eastern Europe, that is!). In fall of 2008, the bread made "Vancouver Magazine’s" 101 Things to Taste Before You Die.
