Found in coffee shops all over the Lower Mainland and now in their very own coffee shop, The Ethical Bean Company is one of the fastest growing Certified Fair Trade coffee suppliers in the Lower Mainland. The café is at the same location as their roasting facility - off Boundary road on the border between Burnaby and Vancouver. For a relaxing environment where you can find everything from Guatemalan and Ethiopian medium-dark roasts to decaf choices and finely made espresso, this tucked away café is worth stopping at.
A Smaller Footprint
Keeping it all ethical is of the greatest importance to The Ethical Bean Company. They make their mission to buy 100 per cent fair trade organic coffee. Not only do they make sure the coffee tastes good, but they ensure the footprint that harvesting and producing that coffee makes is as light as possible. The Ethical Bean cares as equally about good taste as protecting the global environment.
Lloyd Bernhardt and Kim Schachte established the Ethical Bean Coffee Company in the summer of 2003 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Before they opened the company they both lived in Latin America and found a personal connection with the country and its people. With two strong personalities, both with a sense of social and environmental responsibility, plus a love of great coffee, the Ethical Bean Company concept was developed and born. Ethical Bean is BC's only 100 per cent Transfair Canada Certified Fair Trade coffee roaster.
