The store is named after energetic local designer Erin Templeton, who received her shoemaker’s training at Cordwainers College in London, England. Many of her creations bring back to mind the vibrant colours of the seventies and eighties, since they’ve been made out of reclaimed leather jackets from that era. More modern bags are made from locally tanned leather or bold woolly plaids. Templeton’s love for leather isn’t confined to bags alone as she also creates strappy sandals, wrap-around belts and vibrant leather cuffs.
Mixing it up
At Templeton, versatility is the unifying theme: you can swap a long shoulder strap for a short one or, if your budget is a little tight, substitute a vintage silk scarf. Also, bags like “The Only” are big enough to accommodate a laptop but can be scrunched down to a more compact tote size. With a solid leather base and a sturdy clasp, the “A to B” creation will get you and your things to your destination in one piece. And when the bag is open, it turns into a soft squarish tube that makes your belongings easily accessible.
Vintage wear
A sense of time-travel, partly invoked by the historic Chinatown location, carries through to the back of the store. Here, you can sort through two racks of specially selected vintage clothing and jewelry. The pieces are handpicked for their quality, well-known labels and, above all, style. Templeton’s designs have received raves from all over the world and have been featured in publications such as "Harpers and Queen", "The Melbourne Herald", "Vancouver Magazine" and "Fashion Vancouver". The Vancouver designer’s products are sold across Canada as well as in foreign countries like Australia, Japan and the US.
