Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden is the first full sized classical Chinese Garden ever built outside China. Most of its elements, including limestone rocks and courtyard pebbles, were shipped from China. The garden is open year round. Covered walkways provide shelter. Chinatown is easy to find with numerous signs indicating its direction. It is a pleasant walk from downtown along the historic Silk Road Road route.
Your hosts await
There is far more to the small garden than initially meets the eye. The layout of the gentle streams, reflective pools and rugged limestone rocks makes it abundantly clear why the garden's design has not been changed in the past 700 years. Each season springs to life with blossoms in the spring, Jade green water reflecting willows in the summer, vibrant shades of colour from the maple, ginko leaves in fall, and peaceful evergreens in winter. Expect a relaxing visit. Known as the Garden of Ease, you’ll find this an ideal location to relax, reflect and enjoy. A guided tour is available and a recommended part of your gate admission. Chinese tea is steaming hot for you to enjoy after the tour. The gift shop, where Chinese treasures and collectors items are abundant, will give you a permanent reminder of your experience. Proceeds from the Garden Gift Shop go towards maintaining the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden’s programs.
