The Never-ending Irish Pub
Those who are familiar with Vancouver's vibrant social scene may have noticed a funky Irish Pub gracing the corner of Nelson and Granville. The name of the place is Doolin's Irish Pub and they're offering up everything you might expect and more from a traditional Irish style pub. This treasure outshines your average urban watering hole in more ways than one. The first thing you may notice as you sit down is the layout. It is a big pub with an amazingly cozy feel. Off in the corner is the fireplace. The windows are accented with stained glass and wood trim and the full-length bar is no more than a "two-step" from any table. But, walk on my friends. Around the back it goes on and on.

A Few Great Places to Sit
The highlight of the place has to be the "Guinness Pit." Tucked away in the corner of the bar, the Guinness Pit is a sunken booth that's ideal for a group of friends looking to whittle away an evening over a few pints. If the Guinness Pit is occupied, don't fret. Behind the bar are a row of private booths and at least one of them has direct access to the friendly barman who is always quick with a smile and quicker with a pint. The truth of the matter is that there isn't a bad seat in the place.

Dinner at Doolin's
If you have a shrinking pint in your hand and a hunger growing in your belly, then this is the perfect place to catch a bite.Meeting a few friends after work for a quick snack? You have to try the Potato Pachos. It's a massive plate of thinly sliced, deep fried potatoes laden with cheese, salsa, sour cream, and more is sure to keep your motor running well into the evening. If you are looking for a little change of pace from the traditional pub fare you could give the Blarney Cheese a taste. Offering a full portion of baked Brie teamed with a duet of mango and raspberry puree and crispy wedges of baked pita bread the Blarney Cheese is not what you might expect from a pub, but a tantalizing alternative to the "usual."

Sweetness
For those of you with a sweet tooth and a monster appetite you must try out the bread pudding. Other than the perfectly poured pints of Guinness and the bread pudding steals the show. Warm, sweet and soft. It can be ordered "straight up," but if you add a dab of vanilla ice cream be prepared for a life changing experience. If you're really hungry make sure you go before it gets too late. Although the kitchen stays open really late, they pare the menu down to finger foods and pub grub after 10 p.m. You can always come back for Sunday brunch and a football or rugby match on the tele!

What about the Beer?
It is an Irish Pub after all, isn't it? Well, Doolin's doesn't disappoint. The natural choice in any Irish Pub is Guinness or, perhaps, a slightly softer pint of Kilkenny. But they don't stop there. Doolin's offers 16 different types of beer on tap and, of course, a full contingent of cocktails and bottled beer. With dynamite service, delicious food and a very cool vibe, Doolin's promises to be the place in Vancouver for a perfect pint, perfectly poured.
