Profile

Long Live the Diner
Restaurant fads may come and go, but one style seems to never lose popularity for long: good, old-fashioned comfort food. Deacon's Corner specialises in just such fare, in a setting reminiscent of the neighbourhood diners that take one back 50 years, no matter how new the establishment may be. Deacon's Corner opened in early 2009, and this downtown location makes it a convenient breakfast or lunch stop for anyone working or living in the area.

Cheap and Hearty
Deacon's Corner does not cater to the health or organic-conscious, nor the gourmand. If there's one thing that this restaurant does, it's that it guarantees a visitor will leave full, satisfied, and with only a small dent in their wallet. Few items crack the $10 mark. That's not to say that quality is sacrificed – virtually every item is fresh and house-made: true, homestyle comfort food. And with the office crowd in mind, Deacons Corner handles take-out orders easily. You can even order your food online in advance!

Comfortable Classics
Open for breakfast and lunch only, Deacon's Corner includes many of the old-fashioned favourites typical of a diner-style menu, and a few rarer items for good measure. For breakfast, in addition to stand-bys like pancakes, omelets, or steak & eggs, try the house sausage and biscuits. For lunch, besides chili, or the Reuben sandwich, try southern-style chicken-fried steak. There are many more hearty, affordable items available, and they all come in huge portions, so come hungry!
