The art of baking
Daniela’s Cake Boutique is a one-woman operation by Daniela Tomova. The Bulgarian woman began her business in 2003 after she couldn’t find a place to buy cake for her kids. Other Vancouver parents will never have the same problem: Daniela can bake cakes that look like animated characters ranging from the timeless Garfield and Barbie to wizards and sci-fi villains.
Have your cake and eat it, too!
The cakes are made from scratch with all-natural ingredients. Daniela can accommodate special dietary needs and she regularly bakes for diabetics, people with allergies and health-conscious types who count carbohydrates. While many bakers reach for plastic figurines when decorating cakes, Daniela moulds hers using edible fondant – sugar paste. She even hand paints her cakes using petal dust imported from England.

Daniela designs wedding cakes to be beautiful centrepieces, always ensuring they complement the colours, theme and style of the celebration. She even made a cake to match the lace on a bride’s gown! From a cake that looks like the Bible to one with intricate First Nations designs, Daniela can accommodate any request. Couples are always invited in for cake consultations and tasting.
