8.6KM of Fun
The Cypress Bikeway is a north/south bike route on the west side of the city that uses Cypress Street and Angus Drive to connect English Bay and the Fraser River. Its 8.6 km trail passes through the neighbourhooods of Kitsilano, Arbutus-Ridge, Kerrisdale and Marpole. Cyclists can access the Burrard Bridge into downtown from the intersection of Cypress and Cornwall near the north end of the route.

A Path Worth Taking
The Cypress bike route starts 'way down south, at the intersection of 70th Avenue and Cornish, near the western edge of the Marpole area. 70th Avenue itself is distinctly bicycle-unfriendly, with heavy, fast traffic roaring towards the University of British Columbia and its environs at all times of day and night, so do be careful here.

Heading North
You then jog westward until joining Cypress at 57th Ave. You'll cross two major routes, 49th Avenue and 41st Ave., before approaching your first park at 33rd and Maple Crescent. This is where you get into deepest Shaughnessy, the most monied area in Vancouver. Watch the signs as they direct you hither and yon, and check out the local mansions.

Stop to Shop
Once you escape all the wealth and rejoin Cypress, you have a straightforward run north to Kits Point. The tony South Granville shopping district is a few blocks east, and you'll soon cross Broadway and Fourth Avenue. Broadway is books, clothing and restaurants to the west; Fourth is restaurants and more shops, in both directions.

A Forty Minute Bike Ride
There’s a steep downhill run to Cornwall Ave and the start of Kits Point. You can turn east along Cornwall to the Burrard Bridge and downtown, or cross Cornwall and follow Cypress to its end near the Vancouver Maritime Museum. There you can join the seawall, and travel all the way around False Creek, Stanley Park, and into Coal Harbour. A great view to end your scenic ride.
