Located right on the seawall at the end of Denman Street, Crime Lab boasts a stunning view of Stanley Park and the mountains, and offers an excellent vantage point to watch active Vancouverites running, biking and in-line skating. The heated patio is inviting, with comfy bucket seats, attractive stonework and plenty of greenery making the Lab a popular spot to enjoy an evening out no matter what the season. With its welcoming, unpretentious vibe, Crime Lab attracts all types: locals from the nearby condos and yachts, families, businesspeople and throngs of tourists eager for an authentic Vancouver experience.

Crime Lab has a true West Coast look, with attractive glasswork, a marine blue colour scheme and arty wood panelling. The room is sleek and sexy and offers diners privacy, thanks to its winding layout and glass partitions. Floor to ceiling windows showcase the stunning views and open up the fairly small space. The Crime Lab theme is not immediately evident in the décor, save for chrome accents and the slim drop-down white lights that get fairly close to the tables - just as those that are needed to view specimens. Prior to moving to its enviable Cole Harbour digs, the restaurant was located at the site of the old Vancouver police crime lab, the inspiration for the venue’s name.
Urban Comfort Food
The food at Crime Lab is best described as West Coast urban comfort food. The themed menu starts with “parking tickets,” which are healthy soups and meal-worthy salads that can be beefed up with your choice of chicken, salmon or prawns. “Misdemeanors” are jazzy appetizers like grilled lamb lollipops and sugar cane beef skewers. “Joint Indictments” are platters perfect for sharing like the vegetarian, cheese and seafood plates. “Capital Crimes” encompass all main dishes, which include burgers, pasta, seafood dishes, Spanish paella, ribs and steak. Crime Lab also boasts an excellent and extensive wine list and tasty cocktails sure to please any palate.
