The Comox Street Long Bar and Grill is the casual dining room of the Coast Plaza Hotel and Suites just off busy Denman Street. The second-floor joint is homey, unpretentious and spacious, with seating options at the bar, on green upholstered stools or on comfortable couches. It’s a good place to meet up with friends, kick back with Keno, split a jug of beer and listen to live music.
Televised games and live music
During game nights, the seats are often packed with tourists staying at the adjoining hotel or locals looking for seats with prime sight lines. The Comox Street Bar and Grill not only televises hockey games, it also covers Monday night football and boxing matches. For those who want to get a little active themselves, three pool tables are tucked away in a corner. Friday and Saturday nights see live bands performing on stage, usually from 9 p.m. onwards. There is no cover and the music ranges from Top 40 to light rock to country.
Well-priced menu
The menu is straightforward, with pizzas, finger foods and appies including onion rings, nachos, fries and wings. There are burgers and sandwiches and chicken fingers, as well as healthier options like salads and pastas plus a few sophisticated touches like the crab cake appetizer and steak dishes. Daily specials offer great value. All day on Thrifty Thursdays, the Comox St. Bar and Grill takes 30 per cent off your tab on food and alcohol. Thursday’s could be the new Fridays!
