Sophisticated Stop for Lunch
Located on Antique Row, Choux Choux Charcuterie is as unique as its neighbouring vintage shops. The cozy yet chic shop would fit in on a Parisian cobblestone street, and offers Victoria residents a taste of Europe. The charcuterie has two dark, wooden booths ideal for a private meal, and several tables pour deux dotting the busting shop. There are also some sidewalk seats, perfect for people watching. As for the menu, the choices are simple and light and include soup, salads and sandwiches made fresh daily. There is also a charcuterie plate, which varies from week to week, or you can choose your own meats and cheeses from the deli and grab a baguette for an instant picnic!
Homemade Meats from Local Farms
Victoria is famous for its local, organic fare and Choux Choux furthers that reputation by stocking an exclusive range of house-made pates, sausages, and smoked and cured meats. Everything is made right on-site using the finest, freshest meats from local sources, such as free-range pork from Qualicum Beach’s Sloping Hill Farm, Mill Bay rabbits and Cobble Hill lamb. Choux Choux boasts some of the best sausages in town, made fresh daily with Island pork, lamb and chicken, and shunning fillers or preservatives. Premier, traditional pates and terrines are also a popular draw with deluxe varieties like rabbit-dijon pate, and duck-cranberry terrine. Specialty game pates, such as wild boar and caribou are also available. Make your own selection of meats, or enjoy a carefully thought-out variety with the charcuterie platter.
European Cheeses and Accompaniments
With a focus on European lait cru cheeses, Choux Choux stocks an impressive collection of European imports that vary with the seasons. The spectacular selection includes Tomme d'Abondance from France, Tete de Moine from Switzerland and Queso de la Peral from Spain to name but a few. Choux Choux also stocks an excellent assortment of artisan accompaniments to complete your spread, such as chutneys, cornichons and olives, crackers and organic, wood-fired breads. With 24-hours’ notice, cheeseboards complete with accompaniments can be ordered —
