Full Package
When shopping for the right place to eat, one can only hope that they end up in a place that gives them the full package – great food, great service, and if you’re lucky a great atmosphere too. Carlos Mexican Restaurante (or Charlie’s Café as the name is said in English) provides its many long-time patrons and new visitors with the full Mexican experience – including the service oriented and chatty wait staff; happy salsa music and homemade food.

Enchiladas Anyone?
When Carlos says his food is authentic he means it. The steaming plates of traditional Mexican fare at this restaurant are straight from the private recipes of Carlos’s mother-in-law. Isabel Acosta -- Carlos’s wife and business partner -- is proud of her mom-inspired menu which covers Mexican foods from North, Central and Southern Mexico. Eaters can expect winning enchiladas, burritos, tacos, tostadas and tamales covered in flavourful and sometimes spicy red and green sauces, as well as traditional churros con chocolate and deep friend bananas and ice cream for dessert. Even the chips are hand cut, fried and served with freshly made guacamole. For vegetarians, or those who love seafood, there are plenty of both options on Carlos’s menu.

Inside and Out
Located adjacent to Old Port Moody – a quaint area great for long walks and boutiques browsing – this restaurant is a great place for a tasty lunch or a fun-filled dinner. The calm area is a great contrast to the energy inside the restaurant. The walls are covered with a creative splash of décor including piñatas, sombreros, frilly Mexican skirts and blouses. These simple adornments tell the story of a restaurant that started simply and has grown to great success. A perfect place for groups – if you are planning a weekend party, reservations are recommended.
