Bubba Loo opened in December 2006, when a Sidney family decided the seaside community was in dire need of a high-end children’s boutique. Sandra Wiggins and her daughters Christina Wiggins and Ashley Ruffle opened the shop after Ruffle had children — one nicknamed Bubba Loo! The three women work in the lively, friendly boutique and offer a high-level of customer service. For example, the boutique will special order party dresses for little flower girls and suits for ring-bearing boys. Customers can peruse an extensive catalogue and orders arrive quickly. Bubba Loo is also a great place to shop for gifts, and the ladies offer excellent advice on presents and other little extras like fancy gift-wrapping and handmade cards by a local artist.
Stylish Kids’ Clothing for All Occasions
Bubba Loo offers high-end, fashion-forward clothing for newborns to pre-teens for all occasions. The boutique carries a wide range of styles and brands, with a focus on Canadian-designed and made apparel. For play-dates, kids can get trendy, casual outfits from designers like Quebec’s Deux Par Deux and San Francisco’s Tea Collection. Sporty girls can get their fitness apparel from Vancouver designer Yogini, and little boys will find crisp styles for the tennis courts or yacht club from Tommy Hilfiger. Bubba Loo also stocks a wide assortment of shoes by Merrell, See Kai Run, Little Soles and Crocs.
Toys and Treats for Parents and Kids
In addition to great fashions, Bubba Loo also sells toys, bath products and accessories for parents and kids alike. The boutique only stocks high quality toys and does not carry much plastic, favouring instead wood products and handmade pieces. From ultra-popular Blabla dolls and mobiles (which are made of natural fibers and knitted by Peruvian artisans) to shiny red Radio Flyer wagons and trikes, Bubba Loo carries some of the best names in playtime products. For parents, the boutique sells stylish Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags that camouflage as purses, Little Twig and South Island Soy (locally made) bath products to keep kids clean and paintings by local artists to brighten up children’s rooms.
