The clean lines of The Bottle Tipper’s sign stands out amid the bright lights of Kingsway. It’s a hint of the simple down-home diner menu and relaxing atmosphere you’ll find at the eatery. Friendly, attentive staff are proud of the food they serve and stress all dishes are hand-prepared from the freshest ingredients. Customers make themselves comfortable at cozy booths that can accommodate a group or create a private nook for two. Works from neighbourhood visual artists decorate the walls above each booth.
Comfort food with a twist
The restaurant’s menu contains all the favourites you’d expect from a classic diner, but goes one step further, adding flavourful creations of its own. Hot pot dishes come sizzling to the table in cast-iron platters. Those who like to crank up the heat meter will enjoy the Smoked Chipotle Hotplate, while those with less iron-clad taste buds can choose the Jamaican flavours of the Jerk Hotplate. The three most popular dishes at the eatery are the creamy Seafood Chowder, the Buffalo Burger, and Cliff and Ed’s Blackened Chicken Burger.
Supporting the local arts community
The motto at the Bottle Tipper is “fresh food supporting fresh local artists.” In addition to the roomy dining area, the Bottle Tipper is also home to an intimate performance venue. Perfect for live music and theatre, the space also serves as a gallery for art and photography exhibits by day. Monday night at Tippers features live music, and the once-a-month “Funny Show” has stand up comics sharing a few laughs with the crowd.
