Rustic and cozy
The Black Bear Pub has all the usual neighbourhood pub amenities: a well-worn out dart board, big screen television (for watching the game), an outside patio, and friendly staff. The décor is stylish and rustic, with a hardwood bar and tables. The building stands firm in the Lynn Valley Mall's plaza, looking a bit like a cozy cabin that has been transplanted from a nearby mountain.

Local selection
There are over 20 beers to choose from on tap, and a wide selection of bottled beers. The local flavour is really evident in the wine list featuring selections from wineries all over B.C., as well as Californian and Australian reds and whites. The pub is also big on grub that is satisfying and sometimes out of the ordinary. In the mood for a burger with a little kick? Try the ostrich burger (FYI: it is also four times leaner than a chicken burger). Or if you are in the mood from some Southeast Asian cuisine, there is Thai curry and Indonesian pasta. And of course, the pub serves an excellent fish n' chips.

Got a good story to share?
Staff make an extra effort to make everyone feel at home. On the weekends, tables fill up fast but the attentive staff will try to seat you as soon as possible. While you wait, you can always pull up a booth at the bar and chat with the regulars about your busy day of hunting in the wilds--or working the nine to five in the city (whichever it may be).
