Set up in the food court of Richmond’s Aberdeen Centre, this Japanese import is always busy regardless of the time of day. It’s not hard to figure out why. Their specialty, cream puffs, are always baked fresh and then filled with vanilla custard and dusted with powdered sugar – right when you order. The custard is flecked with real vanilla beans and sweetened with a light touch. Other flavours include Green Tea, Coffee and Chocolate.
Real ingredients + natural flavours
Beard Papa uses only real ingredients like milk, heavy cream, unsalted butter, eggs, chocolate, cocoa and vanilla beans. Consequently, everything tastes fresh and there’s no unpleasant chemical aftertaste. A word of warning; it’s easy to consume three or four doughnuts in one sitting because they seem so light. If you’re on a diet that could spell trouble!
More than cream puffs
Beard Papa also carries tiny warm molten cakes called Fondant au Chocolate that ooze Belgian chocolate. Traditional cheesecake is also sold along with sweet mochi ice cream in several flavours. If you’re feeling adventurous then try the Mango Ice Shower, a cup of shaved ice layered with sauce and topped with succulent mango chunks.
