Sure, we all grab a fresh cup ‘o java every once in a while, but B.C.-based coffee house chain, Bean Around the World, takes freshness to a whole new level. They roast their coffee on demand in North Vancouver and deliver to stores two to three times per week. The coffee is also certified organic and fair trade.
The Story
Barney McKenzie and his partner Pate Boeda began roasting coffee in 1990 at their headquarters in North Vancouver. Since then, their company has grown steadily and expanded throughout the province. With 17 coffee shops throughout B.C., chances are there’s a Bean Around the World near you. And if there isn’t one near you, they’ll deliver their own roasted coffee beans to your office or restaurant, through their partner company, Cowboy Coffee.
Social Responsibility
Bean Around the World might be “fuelled by caffeine”, but they know a thing or two about giving back to the community too. The company has developed a working relationship with one of Guatemala’s top coffee producers and buys coffee directly from them. It’s because of this relationship that Bean Around the World and their customers raised enough money to build and support a three-room school house for the children of coffee workers in Guatemala. The company is currently working on a promotion for this specific coffee that will be in stores in October 2008.
