Profile

Authentic Japanese atmosphere
Servers dressed in traditional Japanese attire, large bamboo bundles, waterfalls and serene music give Azuma Sushi an authentic Japanese atmosphere. Bold Japanese wall art, stone statues and fountains and red lanterns also add to the feel. The large, sleek space is also characterized by a series of very private booths that have high walls and cushioned seats. Diners may also opt to sit at the sushi bar where they can watch the chef in action, and there are a few seats outside along the sidewalk perfect for summertime people watching.

Extensive sushi selection
Azuma boasts a complete collection of sushi that rivals any menu in Vancouver. The focus in on traditional choices made with premium ingredients. Sashimi lovers will be delighted by the high-end options, such as hamachi and lobster, which requires two days’ notice. There are dozens of maki rolls to choose from, ranging from basics like the B.C. roll to fancy choices like the rainbow roll, which comes with seven kinds of fish. For those who like to try a few different things, there are great value bento boxes for lunch and “love boat” combinations for up to six people. Catering and delivery are also available.

Much more than sushi
Sushi can just be the start of your Japanese dining experience at Azuma. The restaurant offers much more than rolls. Dozens of appetizers range from fresh oysters to barbecued squid, and there are also tasty soup and salad options. Entrées fall under the categories of donburi (rice dishes), tempura, katsu (deep-fried breaded meats) and seafood. Everything is made fresh to order using the finest ingredients, local whenever possible. You can wash it all down with a sip of sake, or something else from the full bar.
