Located in a former antique store and residence in West Vancouver’s beachfront Ambleside neighbourhood, 2km from the Lion’s Gate Bridge, The Avant Gardener has been giving green thumbs something to do since 1988. Passionate gardener and owner Darlene Sanders has created a exceptional gardening centre that offers a wide range of tools, accessories, ornaments, bulbs, seeds, furniture and more. The Centre has lots of information for people who may not be the most avid gardeners, yet are interested in simple yet green methods of design and home improvement.
Garden Gems and Household Beauties
The Avant Gardener carries a wide range of unusual, high-quality items. Hummingbird Windchimes from Woodstock Chimes are finished in cherry wood, featuring a painted wood ruby-throated hummingbird. Hedgehog Faucets hose bibs for hose outlets come in copper and brass with a polished verdigris finish. Ladybug doorknockers, heron weather vanes and folding Adirondack chairs are just a few more design ideas. Unexpected garden-related delights included Linen Water in flower fragrances, Gardener’s Bee Soap and Gardener’s Hand Therapy.
