Charming Antique Atmosphere

This cute café is located within Victoria’s Antique Row and fully embraces its neighbourhood. The small, cozy eatery has an old-school charm with stained glass lights, diner-style chairs, wooden tables decorated with fresh flowers and a small window to the kitchen where the orders hang on colourful clothespins. On nice days, you may opt to grab a seat at one of the mosaic tile tables perched a step up from the sidewalk and watch the antique hunters stroll by. An always-changing display of local art hangs on the bright yellow walls and can be purchased with your breakfast, with all proceeds going directly to the artist.

All-day Breakfast Bonanza

It’s all about the all-day breakfast at this comfortable café. Whether you wake up early for the fruit and granola, or stroll in after noon for the huevos rancheros, there’s something for all appetites at all times of day. Popular dishes include the meat-heavy Cure, the West Coast Benedict and the Avalon Skillet, all of which come with the tasty cottage potatoes. If you’re watching your waistline, eggs Benny can be ordered by the half, and there are some low-carb and low-calorie options like the breakfast wrap. Avalon is most famous for its oaten toast, which is like a big warm oatmeal cookie that’s crunchy on the outside. Regulars also return for the tangy TNT sauce, which is a mix of honey, vinegar and barbecue sauce. Also make sure you try some of the strawberry-rhubarb jam, made fresh on-site. Both the oaten bread and the jam can be taken home.

Lovely Spot for Lunch

While breakfast may be the big draw to Avalon, there are also lots of lunch options sure to delight. Every day brings a new homemade soup, which goes great with a fresh, made-to-order sandwich, wraps or toasted focaccia. Hearty burger platters (beef, chicken or veggie), fajitas and salads are also good choices. The traditional pierogis (Slavic potato and cheese dumplings) are popular and are done up right — fried in onions and served with sour cream. If nothing strikes your fancy, breakfast is always available!
