Organic Goodness
With organic products fast becoming the accepted norm, it is natural to see Avalon Dairy’s products on the shelf of many of BC’s organic grocery stores. With a wide variety of certified organic milk products (from skim to full-fat homogenized, cereal cream, chocolate milk, eggnog, whipping cream and goats milk) to every day dairy products (salted and unsalted butter, sour cream, plain and flavoured yogurt, eggs, cheese and ice cream) everyone in the family can enjoy Avalon’s products.
The Story
Now running for more than 100 years, Avalon Dairy is home to B.C.’s first organic milk products. The family-owned business opened in 1906 and is still to this day in its original location on Wales Street in Vancouver. It all began with only six cows and has now grown to serve organic needs from Hope to Whistler and everything in between and on the islands (including Salt Spring, Nanaimo, Victoria, Duncan and Cheminus). Avalon’s products can also be found in select stores in the Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Old-fashioned All Around
From their country-style retail store at their plant on Wales Street to home deliveries (see the website for details), this dairy is all about old-fashioned service and style – even their milk products are easily recognized in home style glass bottles. The owners of Avalon Dairy are proud members of the BC Dairy Council, BC Foundation of PAC’s (Pacific Agricultural Certification Society) and the Certified Organic Association of British Columbia.
