West End Community centre is committed to elevating the quality of life in the West End and Coal Harbour communities. They provide a centre for recreational, educational, athletic, cultural and social events for people of all ages and types to enjoy. The community centre’s mission is to promote, foster and heighten community unity in a positive, meaningful light. Opportunities for interaction in an enjoyable atmosphere among neighbours and friends allows for community bonding in this diverse west end area.
Facilities
The best thing about community centres are their well-equipped facilities. The West End Community Centre is certainly a great example. It has an ice rink, state of the art fitness centre, gymnasium, dance studio, martial arts and pottery studios, racquetball and squash courts, a sauna and a snack bar. A very wide variety of programs are offered including creative arts, music, dance, sports and personal growth. Other special events, classes, seminars, and activities are offered from time to time as well. Due to their wealth of activities, all participants should get familiar with their guide to see the range of options available, check for event schedules, class registrations, and other activities you wish to be a part of.
Location and Access
The Centre is on Denman Street in the heart of West End Vancouver. Parking in the area can be an issue. If you live close by, their advice is to either walk, jog or ride a bike. Another alternative is to take public transportation. The #5 Robson route runs right past their door, and is an environmentally friendly alternative as well.
