Ashby House Bed & Breakfast has provided restful respite to grateful travellers for more than two decades. Built in 1899, the Heritage designated house has been lovingly restored by the present owners. Guest rooms are named after men of historical repute – most of them writers. For instance, the Sir Walter Scott room offers a king-sized bed and private bathroom. For parties of three, the Milne Room, which has a single bed, is offered as well – the two rooms share the bathroom. The James MacNeill Whistler room has art nouveau ambience with a double bed and ensuite bath. And the Oscar Wilde room is a double with en suite bath. All the rooms have cozy period furnishings, lace curtains, patterned wallpapers and carpets. There are no TVs to disturb the peace at Ashby’s but guests can borrow a book from the thousands in the B & B’s collection. Telephone, fax, and internet connection is available and staff will arrange an on-site massage with a registered massage therapist. Breakfast to Order
The proprietors at Ashby’s offer you a choice of breakfast fare – really whatever you feel like. You might like seasonal fruit and yogurt, hot and cold cereals, bacon, sausage, eggs any style, specialty breads and homemade jams or marmalade, accompanied by organic fair trade coffees, teas and hot chocolate. Perfect Location
The bright, yellow wood-clad house has a porch decorated with meandering vines and a flower-filled garden. It’s just across the street from Nelson Park and only a five-minute walk to Robson Street. You can be at Stanley Park, English Bay or downtown in just 15 minutes.
