The Art Beatus Gallery was first founded in Hong Kong in 1992. With the addition of a second location in Vancouver in 1996, Art Beatus became the first gallery of its kind operating simultaneously on both sides of the Pacific.
Art Beatus represents and promotes international modern and contemporary art with a unique focus on contemporary Chinese art. Traditional Chinese art has a profound history that is widely recognized throughout the world. As well, the last one hundred years saw many developments in contemporary Chinese art that are no less significant than those of its past.
Unique in every way
Unfortunately, few North American galleries possess the level of understanding needed to effectively represent contemporary Chinese art. In an era of cultural hybridity, when many reputable art institutions are becoming more aware of contemporary art outside of the mainstream, contemporary Chinese art has now achieved international recognition. It is the perfect time for Art Beatus to serve and fulfill this interest in contemporary Chinese art, and to become the first dealer suitably positioned to properly promote and represent museum-quality Chinese art.
Art Beatus is continually seeking out new talents to add to its illustrious list of contemporary Chinese artists. It is their goal to pursue wider recognition of contemporary Chinese art throughout the world; and to promote and assist in the establishment of noteworthy art collections. Collaborating with partners and associates in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, Art Beatus also organizes special shows and exhibitions for a number of internationally acclaimed artists of non-Chinese origins. Notwithstanding their focus on contemporary Chinese art, they believe that their special exhibitions of artists of the highest calibre add to the artistic diversity and interests of our clients and, more importantly, they will provide a frame of reference for appreciating, as well as evaluating, Chinese art within an international context.
