Tea for the Everyman
The Aroma Tea House, which originates in Hong Kong, has been an established purveyor of fine Chinese teas since 1955, specializing in only the finest quality teas for both wholesale and retail customers alike. After creating a name for themselves around the globe, the owners of Lam Kie Yuen Tea Co. decided to open their first North American branch, known here as the Aroma Tea House, and since 2001 they have been delighting Vancouver with their extensive knowledge and friendly service, always striving to be on a first-name basis with their loyal customers. Their reputation has been entirely dependent on word of mouth advertising, garnering them enough of a name to merit regular mention in several Japanese travel guides, television shows and airlines.

Authentic Ambiance
From the moment your eye catches the bright gold lettering on their storefront, it becomes clear that great lengths have been taken to ensure your experience at Aroma Tea House is as authentic as possible. Their motto is “making friends by making tea” and they promote tea as more than a drink – they feel it is part of their living heritage. And for those looking to broaden their knowledge of this heritage, they offer a weekly class Monday evenings, giving each of the four students an introduction to Chinese tea appreciation. For a nominal fee each student receives two classes, including the tea.

Brew-It-Yourself
The small but brightly-lit shop is lined with bin after bin of bulk tea, and the staff will always encourage customers to sample the teas before they purchase, and are happy to recommend the best tea to suit every budget and need, be it to pick you up or help you unwind. Some of their biggest sellers are Jasmine teas, many of which are offered in such shapes as hearts, pearls and blossoms, which make great gifts and conversation pieces. Their own blends include Monkey Picked Teguanyin, Dragon Well or a sweet and aromatic blend of Jasmine and Rose tea, a rejuvenating brew that helps reduce pigmentation and can improve liver function.
