Welcome to Grandma’s Kitchen
Mismatched wood tables, a blue-orange checkered linoleum floor, antique glass lamps and an abundance of fresh flowers and healthy plants creates a homey atmosphere at Aphrodite’s. Paintings by local artists adorn the wood-panelled walls, and floor to ceiling windows allow diners to gaze at the arty Kitsilano crowd strolling by. You’ll enjoy a laid-back vibe and a country welcome at this popular neighbourhood haunt, which is as cozy as Grandma’s kitchen!

Farm Fresh Philosophy
Imagine eating a meal made with fresh ingredients picked that very day from a farm fewer than 60 kilometres away from your table. That’s how it works at Aphrodite’s, which is owned by Fraser Valley farmer Allan Christian. No matter the season, more than 50 per cent (and often up to 90 per cent) of the food comes from the Glen Valley Organic Farm Cooperative, of which Christian is a member. With a few rare exceptions, all ingredients used in preparing dishes are organic and locally produced.

Seasons Eatings
Since Aphrodite’s depends on what comes in from the farm and the fishmonger on a daily basis, the menu is always changing to reflect what’s fresh and in season. The fare is healthy comfort food, with a focus on vegetarian and seafood dishes. In addition to decadent dinner features like scallops in apple butter on potato pancakes, Aphrodite’s is also known for its thin-crust pizzas, abundant salads and homemade soups. Sip on locally brewed beer and wine from B.C. wineries. Of course, dessert cannot be missed at the pie shop! From basic blackberry-apple pie to indulgent chocolate beet cake, there are more than a dozen tasty treats on the menu. Whole pies and cakes can also be ordered for special occasions, with wheat-free, gluten-free, sugarless and vegan varieties available. Aphrodite’s also has a catering kitchen, where it prepares fresh and frozen meals and snacks to go.
