With the controversy generated over their racy advertising, it’s easy to forget that that’s what is actually being sold here – simple, casual attire for men, women, children, babies and even the family dog, all made from 100% cotton.

American Apparel’s signature design strategy has been to keep the colours basic. There are no logos and no patterns - solid colours from across the spectrum dominate the retail floor. It’s the cuts that ooze the sex appeal - slimmed down styling with a European edge.
