Ambleside Park is a very popular neigbourhood park; playing host to many a game and dozens of picnics. You’re close to the City, yet, at the same time, away from it all. A day can be spent taking Fido for a walk, having a barbecue with the family, and then rounding it out with a game of tennis.
Sports And Then Some…
Ambleside measures about 59 acres in area, with 600 meters of sandy beach and 1.2 kilometers of shoreline walking paths. There is plenty to do here, so plan on a day full of activities. The park has two baseball diamonds, one fitness circuit, three basketball courts, three tennis courts, beach volleyball nets in the warmer months and a Par 3 Golf Course. There are also picnic areas, barbecues, a playground and a popular pond that plays host to migrating Green Herons in April.
Hiking The Capilano Pacific Trail
If you love to hike, head to Ambleside’s trails. Here you can find the Capilano Pacific Trail, which can be followed all the way up the Capilano Canyon to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and the Cleveland Dam. Or, branch off into West Vancouver proper, which has wide avenues offering some pleasant strolls through parks to viewpoints, thoughtfully marked by “Village Walk” signs.
