A History of Helping Since 1981
As the population ages, we all must begin thinking about all of the different affects of old age. One of the most destructive diseases to strike those later in their lives is Alzheimer Disease. With Alzheimer Disease, the memories of the person are literally wiped away. This can be very distressing to the entire family. The Alzheimer Society of BC was established in 1981 to help bring local and personal support to the sufferers of Alzheimer’s, and also to their families and caregivers.

A Helping Hand, Educating Yourself
The Alzheimer Society of British Columbia promotes research into Alzheimer Disease, so that one day a cure can be found. Until such a day, families must find the best way possible to adjust to the affects of the disease. The Alzheimer Society offers access to over 100 support programs that teach the families and those afflicted how to manage everyday life with Alzheimer Disease. Here you will learn how to improve brain health and care for someone properly with the Family Care Giver Series, free to anyone in need.

Get Involved & Make an Impact
If you want to get involved there are several ways you can make a difference. Donations are always welcome, volunteers are always necessary and membership to the Society is unlimited. The monies raised go to education programs, local support services and research to help find a cure for this debilitating disease. Currently they have ‘Brain Boost’ an online gym for your brain, to keep your mind active and helping to keep Alzheimers at bay. Get involved!
