A Family Tradition
Alexis has been serving authentic Greek cuisine for more than three decades. When they moved to Cambie Street in the fall of 2008, many longtime customers happily followed. This family-owned restaurant serves home-style cooking, with generous portions at very reasonable prices. It’s hard to imagine anyone leaving here hungry!

Signature Dishes
Alexis’ atmosphere is more relaxed urban chic than the stucco-and-beams décor of many Greek restaurants. Located beside the Park Theatre, it’s a great place for dinner before the show. Or, visit afterwards for a cold beer or glass of wine and some sharing plates with friends. These small plates, known as “meze”, are a nice, lighter option, ideal for larger groups so everyone can try a lot of different dishes. There are plenty of vegetarian, seafood, and meat options. If you’re looking for a full meal, the calamari and the tender roast lamb are house specialties. Also popular is the Mediterranean chicken, with spinach, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, and white wine sauce. Rounding out the hearty menu are Greek favourites souvlaki and moussaka. Comfort-foodies should bring their appetites for the lasagna and eclectic deep-dish pizzas.

Expect personal and attentive service at Alexis. Owner John Kakavelakis oversees the kitchen and wants to make sure his guests are satisfied. And many of the staff have been with the restaurant for years, so they can make recommendations and answer questions. Love the food but can’t stay?
