Run by mother-daughter team Linda and Stefani Hartwig, Addiction boasts girly décor that all moms would approve of. An ornate crystal chandelier lights the spacious shop, and fashionistas use grand, antique mirrors to check their reflection. The simple space is made unique with one wall of bold black and white wallpaper, tiger-print chairs, funky frames on the wall and an old-fashioned bike and basket in the corner.
Label-lovers Shop Here
Addiction attracts women of all ages with offerings from labels not often found in Victoria. Designer-jean lovers will find irresistible denim by Small Town, Tsubi and William Rast by pop-star Justin Timberlake; perfect paired with Jessica Campbell boots. For fancier occasions, Ella Moss frocks are a hit and look great with a pair of pretty Colcci heals. Other notable names on the racks include La Rok, All Black, Designers Remix, Valérie Dumain and Alexander Wang. Although the focus is on seeking out international marquee designers, Addiction also supports local designers, such as jewelry designer Lost Lovers. The Hartwigs offer styling services, personal shopping, appointment shopping and a layaway program — because sometimes you just can’t afford that Vroom dress, but really must have it!
Addicted to Project Runway
Addiction is a huge supporter of Project Runway Canada winner Evan Biddell. The designer once sold his urban couture out of a small shop in a heritage alley hidden by the Johnson Street boutiques, and made friends with the neighbouring fashion fanatics. Addiction picked up Biddell’s very first official collection, launched at the 2008 Toronto Fashion Week, and also created an “Addicted to Biddell” T-shirt to show their support.
