Established in Vancouver’s Greek quarter, Acropol Greek Restaurant is a hit with its neighbours. The family-friendly atmosphere and cozy décor keeps customers coming back for both dine-in and take out orders. Sometimes the owner’s kids can even be seen helping out their parents, or just keeping the diners company while they wait for their meal.
All the Favourites
Known best for its lamb dish called the Exohiko, the chef at Acropol also serves up other traditional favourites. Tamara and fresh pitas are also on the top of the list of most-ordered, as is the homemade hummus. Diners seem to appreciate the calamari dinner, plus saganaki, moussaka, spanakopita and stuffed eggplant dishes grace the well-rounded menu. Try the souvlaki, zorbas, and, of course, the gyros in lamb, chicken or beef. A full bar serves drinks throughout the day, so pick your favourite bevvie and settle in for a nice lunch or dinner.
Family Knows Best
A nice touch in a busy city like Vancouver are the family-owned and operated restaurants like the Acropol. It is small, yet the intimate atmosphere is seen by most as a plus. Simple furniture and an unpretentious setting make for a quiet respite in the middle of West Broadway. All the tables have fresh flowers soaking in vases and a Mediterranean feeling to the decorations. Most start as take out-only customers who are soon won over by the charming staff, and end up coming by as regular customers.
