Lingerie is a big part of Above Average's business: Above Average carries bras in sizes from C to DDD, up to hard-to-find H, I, and J cups. They are well known for bra-fitting services, as up to half of all women may be wearing the wrong bra size. The owners and staff are all experienced in the fine art of bra-fitting, so no appointment is needed. The process involves taking some simple measurements and trying on various bras, and takes about 45 minutes. They can even alter bras if necessary. But the outcome is better support for the back and bust, and a better look in all the fashions that go over top.

Aside from pretty and comfortable fashions from Diane Kennedy, Cafe Au Lait, and many others, what keeps customers coming back is personal service. Most customers live outside the store's immediate area, so they offer mail ordering and email alerts when something comes in that's perfect for a specific customer. They also offer layaways and special orders, and do their best to foster long-term relationships with their clientele. The goal? To help women look better, one at a time.
