An unforgettable sailing adventure
A 3 Hour Sail gives visitors to Victoria, B.C.’s beautiful capital city, the opportunity to embark on a unique sailing expedition onboard a three-mast sailboat called Thane. Cruising the waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island, you’ll find yourself surrounded by spectacular scenery. The magnificent mountains of Washington State’s Olympic peninsula rise above protected waters teeming with whales, dolphins, seals, otters and more. Guests are encouraged to participate in the sailing experience, for a hands-on adventure they’ll never forget. You’re encouraged to pack a picnic, and alcohol is permitted although moderation is appreciated. All ages are welcome. The Thane can accommodate up to 18 people.
A learning experience
The crew are experienced and knowledgeable sailors. They are also experts on the region’s geography, marine life and human history, sharing stories during the three-hour journey. They are very personable, making guests feel at home. Planked in yellow cedar, The Thane was made from recycled materials salvaged from demolished local buildings. She’s been sailing since 1978.
Private groups/charters
A 3 Hour Sail offers bookings for birthdays, anniversaries, office parties, weddings and other special events. The Tall Ship THANE Teambuilding Programme is popular with corporate groups. Sailings are available throughout the year, but are dependent on weather conditions.
