Welcoming Vibe
There are no bright fluorescent lights or suspicious staff at this funky convenience store. Across the street from Cannabis Culture Headquarters, 420 Convenience is part of marijuana activist Marc Emery’s “hempire,” which also includes the Vapor Lounge — a place where people are known to hang out and smoke pot with vaporizers. The convenience store is tailored to stoners, with dim lighting, trippy music, cool art on the walls and non-judgmental employees who don’t blink an eye if it takes you 10 minutes to choose a pack of gum. The name “420” comes from the pot culture reference to the universal toking time.
One-stop Shop
420 Convenience carries a large selection of healthy, organic snacks with more energy bars and rice crackers than chocolate bars and chips filling the shelves. The shop also sells freshly made sandwiches and a small selection of homemade sweet treats along with the usual convenience store inventory: gum, cold drinks, cigarettes, gum, etcetera. If you need to pick up a few things on your way home, 420 has a great selection of household items and pet supplies — from Hemp Bliss milk to catnip.
