In 1995, Sam Roberts formed a band called Northstar. By the time the band combusted three years later, they made the Canadian College radio charts, were featured on Much Music and had a bit of fun in L.A. with some major label scoundrels.

Rising from the ashes with Sam's prolific songwriting, a new sound has emerged, fusing his earlier Beatles-, Rolling Stones- and Kinks-influenced melodies with a dreamier but more dangerous narcotic quality. Thrown into this boiling cauldron is Sam's lifelong love for South African "Kwela" jazz. Flavoured by his Montreal lifestyle (hockey, sleazy bars), travels throughout the world (Indonesia to Macchu Picchu) and his South African surfer-bum heritage, the new music is truly from the soul.
