Many aspects of the maritime experience and our heritage go untold because the Museum does not have the space to display its $12 million collection of artefacts. These very special tours are an opportunity to see just a small portion of the collection that remains hidden.
Many of the artefacts in the Museum's collection are national treasures, and some rare objects are internationally significant, like the hand-drawn charts kept by Captain James Cook on his third and final voyage of exploration which includes the last chart the famous navigator was working on when he was killed in Hawaii in 1778.
This one hour, free Hidden Treasures Tour is designed for adults and youth over 10 years old and offered periodically based on interest. The tour hours are: weekdays (Monday to Friday between 9 am and 3.30 pm); weekends (Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 3:30pm) and evenings (dates and times are subject to Museum availability).
