Big Dump
With an average annual snowfall of 35 feet, Mount Washington Alpine Resort can claim more snow than anywhere else in the country. Add that to an average ski season temperature of -2 degrees Celsius and it’s easy to see why it has become one of the top five most visited ski resorts in British Columbia. Mount Washington began in the 1970s as a day use ski area that’s biggest claim to fame was having Vancouver Island’s first indoor washrooms on a ski hill. Today the resort has grown into a massive 1,600 acres of skiable terrain featuring 60 named runs accessed by nine high speed chair lifts that can carry up to 12,200 riders every hour. There are two world-class terrain parks and several runs lit for night skiing Thursday through Saturday and during holidays.

Ski-In, Ski-Out Accommodations
The alpine village features all the modern amenities of a fully functioning city with more than 4,000 beds available for overnight accommodations, almost all of which are ski-in, ski-out. The resort itself is located in the Comox Valley just 100km from Nanaimo, BC and only three hours from Vancouver, including the 90-minute ferry ride to the Island.

More than Just the Alpine
Those looking for more than just the thrill of downhill will easily find it at Mount Washington. The resort boasts 55 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails, a 200-metre all-natural luge track, a night-lit snow tubing park, and 20 kilometres of snowshoe trails widely considered some of the best in the country. In summer the area is a popular camping, hiking and mountain biking destination. A full service resort with the kind of conditions most skiers and snowboarders dream of, Mount Washington Alpine Resort is the perfect destination for a day trip or ski vacation.
